The carnival is over
(Dead Can Dance)
Outside
The storm clouds gathering,
Moved silently along the dusty boulevard.
Where flowers turning crane their fragile necks
So they can in turn
Reach up and kiss the sky.
They are driven by a strange desire
Unseen by the human eye
Someone is calling.
I remember when you held my hand
In the park we would play when the circus came to town.
Look! Over here.
Outside
The circus gathering
Moved silently along the rainswept boulevard.
The procession moved on the shouting is over
The fabulous freaks are leaving town.
They are driven by a strange desire
Unseen by the human eye.
The carnival is over
We sat and watched
As the moon rose again
For the very first time.

I can see now
[Caravaggio - Conversão na estrada de Damasco]I'd raise the anchor
to sail the sea
in search of you and me
(cantado por Dead Can Dance)
O suspiro do comboio suave suave nos carris. Suspirava sim. Parecia morrer. Esticão mole. Como se se engasgasse e tossisse com preguiça. E depois parava e calava. Suspirava de novo agora com mais força. Abria a porta. Resfolegante. Pus um pé no chão de cimento. Tu estavas ali. Em pé olhando para ti. Caiu-me uma lágrima nervosa e vejo que nunca saí daqui.

The wind that shakes the barley
(Para ser ouvido cantado por Dead Can Dance, no album "Toward the within", onde a voz da Lisa Gerrard soa mais intensa do que na gravação em estúdio)
I sat within the valley green
I sat me with my true love
My sad heart strove the two between
The old love and the new love
The old for her, the new that made me
Think on Ireland dearly
While soft the wind blew down the glen
And shook the golden barley
Twas hard the woeful words to frame
To break the ties that bound us
But harder still to bear the shame
Of foreign chains around us
And so I said, "The mountain glen
I'll seek at morning early
And join the bold United Men"
While soft winds shook the barley
Sad I kissed away her tears
Her arms around me flinging
The foeman's shot burst on our ears
From out the wildwood ringing
The bullet pierced my true love's heart
In life's young spring so early
And there upon my breast she died
While soft winds shook the barley
I bore her to a mountain stream
And many's the summer blossom
I placed with branches soft and green
Around her gore-stained bosom
I wept and kissed her clay cold corpse
Then rushed o'er hill and valley
My vengeance on the foe to wreak
While soft winds shook the barley
It's blood for blood without remorse
I took at Oulart Hollow
And laid my true love's clay cold corpse
Where mine full soon may follow
Around her grave I wander drear
Noon, night and morning early
With breaking heart whene'er I hear
The wind that shakes the barley
